Emma Jane “Janie” Littleton Damron, 86, of Grayson, Ky went to be with her Lord
and Savior on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 30, 1933 in Fultz, KY a daughter of the late Commodore “Pete” and Mary Littleton.
Janie attended Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church. Her passion in life was her flowers. She and her husband Jimmie had several greenhouses where they grew and sold flowers and plants. In December 1961 Jim had a heart attack and was unable to work. Janie, having five young children to care for, then became a floral designer opening Midland Trail Florist and Greenhouses. For 58 years her love for flowers continued, finishing her career at Cooke’s Florist as owner and designer. Janie was a member of the “Carter County Cruisers” as she traveled the world together with family and friends. She was a member of the “Spirited Sisters Red Hatters”. She enjoyed dressing in her purple and red and her costumes she created for each holiday at their many get-to-gathers. Janie was gifted in her talents for design whether it be with flowers, decorating, or clothing.
In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her husband James E. “Jimmie” Damron; son-in-law Donald Ray Brown; two granddaughters: Ginger Lee Brown Clay and Christa Jane Richardson; five brothers: Ralph Littleton, Joe Littleton, Arthur Littleton, Glen Littleton, Bobby Littleton; three sisters: Pauline Littleton Pope, Minnie Littleton Garrison and Elizabeth Littleton Burkholder, as well as her long time companion William E. Waggoner.
Janie is survived by her five children: Debra Damron Brown, Olive Hill, KY; James E. “Jamie” Damron (Shirley), Olive Hill, KY; Jane Lynn Damron Felty (Sam) Grayson, KY; Rita Darlene Damron Kinner (John), Greenup, KY; Angela Damron Woods, Greenup, KY; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. One sister Jenell Littleton (Tom) Stanley, Sharps Chapel, Tn and countless nieces, nephews and cousins who will mourn this matriarch.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 with visitation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with Pastor Gary Sparks and Reverend Jack Edwards. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a later date.
